Roof insulation
Since the 1930's fibreglass has traditionally been used for roof insulation. Though popular and affordable, fibreglass is actually an inefficient insulator and is itchy and difficult to work with. If fibreglass roof insulation gets wet, it can cause meld and drywall rot. Additionally, fibreglass insulation can be extremely harmful if particles of it are inhaled, and if it catches on fire, it emits a highly toxic carcinogen. Vermin and insects can also penetrate through fibreglass roof insulation.
EcoFoam uses Stabilised Cellulose Insulation (SCI) as roof insulation because it is fire resistant, meld resistant and environmentally friendly as it is mainly composed of recycled paper. SCI is more effective at preventing vermin and insects from entering the home, and is a highly effective sound barrier as well.
