To be eligible to receive the Australian Government’s roof insulation rebate in NSW the home owner must be the owner-occupier or beneficial owner of the house and be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident who is aged 18 or over.

A person who is a landlord of a house may also receive the $1600 roof insulation rebate in NSW if they too are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident who is aged 18 or over. A corporate entity who owns a house where the roof insulation is to be installed may also be eligible for the rebate if they are incorporated in Australia.

A tenant of a house may also be eligible to receive the free roof insulation rebate in NSW if they have the Landlord’s express permission, which needs to come in the form of a physical letter, either from the landlord or the landlord’s representative agent.

Anyone who wishes to receive the energy efficient roof insulation rebate in NSW must also ensure that they have not previously been given the Australian Government’s Solar Hot Water rebate. They should also have not already applied for the existing Homeowner Insulation Program or Low Emission Assistance Plan.

A home owner can only receive the roof insulation rebate in NSW if they do not already have existing roof insulation or if they have existing roof insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness.

Finally, they must correctly complete and sign the relevant section of the Work Order Form so the Installer can claim the roof insulation rebate in NSW on their behalf.
